The Seven Sacraments

The seven sacraments are divided into three categories.

Sacraments of Christian Initiation

These lay the foundations of the Christian life, marking the beginning of a person’s journey.

Baptism

Cleanses the soul, forgives sins (original and personal), and initiates one into the Church.

How to request: Contact the parish office at least two weeks before the desired date. Parents and godparents must attend a preparatory session.

Confirmation

Perfects baptismal grace and strengthens the individual with the Holy Spirit.

How to request: Candidates enrol in the Confirmation preparation programme, typically in Standard IX or X.

Eucharist (Holy Communion)

The source and summit of Christian life, where Catholics receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

How to request: Enrol children in the parish catechism programme. First Communion is typically in Standard IV.

Sacraments of Healing

These sacraments continue Jesus’ work of healing and salvation.

Reconciliation (Confession)

Provides forgiveness for sins committed after baptism, offering God’s grace to those who sincerely confess.

How to request: Available every Saturday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, or by appointment with the parish priest.

Anointing of the Sick

Offers spiritual and sometimes physical healing, strength, and peace to those suffering from illness or old age.

How to request: Contact the parish priest or parish office at any time. In emergencies, call immediately.

Sacraments at the Service of Communion and Mission

These are directed toward the salvation of others and the building up of the Church.

Holy Orders

The mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues in the Church, including bishops, priests, and deacons.

How to request: Speak with the parish priest for guidance on discerning a vocation to the priesthood or diaconate.

Matrimony (Marriage)

A covenant between a man and a woman to establish a lifelong partnership before God and the Church.

How to request: Contact the parish priest at least three months before the intended date. Both parties must complete a marriage preparation course.
